As we tell the story of the years past, as the seeds we planted some time ago sprout up, as we eat the fruit of trees planted long ago, we have begun to discern what is ours to plant in the years ahead. With Jeremiah 29 guiding us to have an eye for the welfare of the city in which we live, and the agricultural parables of Mark 4 offering an organic (rather than mechanical) metaphor for the work of the body of Christ, we hope to invite the whole body into the planting and tending of the community garden that is our church through their time, service, gifts, presence, and witness, for the welfare of the city.
