The season of Lent is a season of wandering in the wilderness; a season of repentance, repair, and reflection. The world around us already feels like a wilderness, a place of testing, wandering, and challenge. In times like these, we need to return to the tabernacle, enter into the house of God; be sheltered by God’s fortress, God’s wings.
Repentance, as well as being a recipient of God’s hospitality and care, requires trust in God’s grace, provision, and power. This series invites us to become recipients of God’s hospitality, a true and difficult task of humility. In doing so, we are formed in such a way that empowers us to walk back out into the wilderness of the world and offer radically extravagant hospitality to our neighbors. This time of dwelling in God’s house changes us, and may require us to turn around, to repent of the kinds of houses we’ve built, and remodel them.
